92 nissan maxima oil pressure light is coming on with what appears normal oil level?

light comes on (flickers) while approaching stop at stop and accelerating away from stop. Oil level appears to be normal. would the oil pressure sending unit be bad? or Is this more serious than that? (if that wasn't serious enough)92 nissan maxima oil pressure light is coming on with what appears normal oil level?
i would change PSU first - or hook up oil pressure gauge - i think you would know the bad news after that92 nissan maxima oil pressure light is coming on with what appears normal oil level?
Have the technician while changing the oil pressure switch put in a manual pressure test gauge and test hot idling oil pressure which should never drop below 14 psi at about 750 rpms. Then the bad news as bearing wear and camshafts wear oil pressure is lost after a while metal wears out inside the oil pump too. 17 years I hope is has been a good run. Replacing the motor is not a good option and very expensive. Labor cost will eat up the cost of the car quickly and used motors have 100's of thousand miles on them. Over haul or rebuild could cost $3,000 or $4,000 and you still have a 17 year old car. I know New 2009 Maxima's cost over 34,000 dollars but american money just does not go as far these days and may get worse before it gets better.
i had a sentra that would do the same thing. Turned out to be too much sluge in the engine from changing oil every 30,000 miles, (oops) they had to drop the pan and clean the oil screen and it worked fine ever since, i wouldnt drive it too long like this if i were you.
