There is a tiny oil leak coming from the drain plug...and what kind of plug and gasket do I need?Is a 99 GMC Sierra supposed to have an oil drain plug gasket?
yes it does buy new drainplug it will have a new gasket on it just to be sureIs a 99 GMC Sierra supposed to have an oil drain plug gasket?
Every car I've owned has a gasket.

Some GM cars have a brass gasket, looks like a plumbing washer, almost like a ring you could put on your finger.

Some GM cars have the same gasket except made of rubber.

I've known GM dealers that will give you 1 or 2 for free as goodwill when you go to the parts department.

If you don't screw it in too tight, you can sometimes use the rubber ones twice. Maybe even 3 or more times, but I never chance it that much.

Why not change the oil and put in a new gasket when doing so. Do not try to just overtighten it. There have been cases where the oil pan develops cracks from overtightening. It also makes taking it off difficult.
Some do some don't.

Some have brass, some have nylon.
You need an oil drain plug gasket.
