How do you remove a oil drain plug from a car?

i have a 2004 chevy malibu that i want to change the oil on. i know where the oil drain plug is but i can never seem to remove it with a ratchet or air compressor tools because it seems as though it is rusted to the engine. This is the first time i will change my oil.... I usually take it to a shop to have it done, but i want to save a little cash... any suggestions on how to get the oil out? How does a shop remove the cap?How do you remove a oil drain plug from a car?
It's just tight. You can't break it with an air wrench? Get a hollow pipe to put over the socket handle for leverage and turn. It HAS to come loose.How do you remove a oil drain plug from a car?
You won't be saving any cash..... YOU have to buy the filter and the oil. YOU have to dispose of the oil (you can't pour it on the ground, it's hazardous waste) YOU have to dispose of the old oil filter (same reason). YOU have never changed oil in your life, and anybody that knows anything at all wouldn't use air tools to do it. And do you have a grease gun to lubricate the chassis? Do you know where all the grease zerks are located? For all that you don't know, you should take it to Jiffy Lube or Oil Express and have it done in about ten minutes.
NB?

Say that malibu comes with a(n) Aluminum oil pan, the torque for the drain plug is 18ft.lbs..

There is no way you shouldn't be able to remove it with a 3/8';

ratchet and 15mm socket?

I recommend that you take it to a service facility and watch them remove and reinstall that plug,

Ask them too please use a torque wrench to tighten the plug and ask them what the torque spec. is?

Also too loosen the drain plug you need to turn the plug in a counter clockwise direction.
put a little more muscle into it it's not rusted

maybe let your girlfriend try to loosen it for you
