drain plugs are typically in mm. most are between the range 14-17mm. just get a socket kit and try until it works. I am speaking for foreign made cars though. since yours is domestic, they might be using English units.
My 1998 Grand Prix has a 15mm head.
Try your metric crescent wrench.
