How often should the oil drain plug be replaced when doing oil changes?

Every 10 years or As needed.

Generally speaking, as needed, if your plug is still functional then there is no need to replace it. Junk yards are excellent places to find cheap replacements for your plug or eBay is even better. How often should the oil drain plug be replaced when doing oil changes?
Never. You might need a new gasket from time to time, but the drain plug should last the life of the car. It often gets torn up by people not using the proper tools, and once it gets bad enough, you might be able to remove it with vise grips only. If it gets that bad or some one cross threads it putting it in wrong, it should be replaced. How often should the oil drain plug be replaced when doing oil changes?
If care has been taken, it should never need replacing. If the plug or hole is stripped, then you need a self-threading replacement slightly larger. If the washer is deformed, you replace it. The last plug I replaced, the ONLY plug I ever replaced, was in 1967. I have never needed to replace a washer.
Never, only if it becomes damaged, it should outlast the life of the car if you use the correct tools and tension.
I would not change it unless it is causing you a leak.
