I worked in a oil change shop for 2 years, it will not hurt to stay with regular or synthetic, actually all new oils today are of a synthetic blend just some more than others, the only way you are going to hurt the car is if you go from 10w30 to 5w30 then to 10w40 and so on.. you can change brands, synthetic to not synthetic just dont change the weight of the oil. you will often get the salesman pitch that since you have that many miles that synthetic is better. but its really all the same so regular ole 10w30 is fine. I would recommend castrol myself, I have taken engines apart that have had penzoil and quakerstate in them and they had horrible deposits and things in them. valvoline works wonders as well. and castrol highmileage oil. as far as how much. the 4cylinder engines and 6 cylinder engines both take 4.5 quarts to be full. good luck. my girlfriend ran a maxima for well well well over 200,000.
you need to put the same oil back in it. its got 170k miles on it why change to a expensive kind of oil.10w30 will work.if you put synthetic oil in the car when it had 10 miles on it then go with synthetic.if the car had 10w30 in it when it had 10miles then go with that .dont change
ALL THE OIL THE SAME ITS JUST LIKE WHEN U BUY GAS ITS DIFFERENT TO SOME PEOPLE BUT ITS ALL THE SAME REALLY THE BEST OIL TO BUY FOR NISSAN IS CASTRO AND THE SIZE HES TELLING U WHAT UR CAR NEEDS
