Most likely cause of the problem is oil is leaking out of the valve covers. Those gaskets are only 18 years old... But with out looking at and under that car I cannot say for sure. How many miles on the car how long have you owned it? Advice fix the oil leak or trade in the car. The best thing to do is look all around the top and bottom of the engine to try and see where the leak is coming from. Auto parts stores sell a spray on cleaner that will clean the engine, thus making it easier to locate any leaks...you are going to have to raise the car to look underneath
